Description

I know it's retina searing and kind of tacky, but I just couldn't help myself!

This meme/race is over at TLC, but I'm posting this here for members and non-members who would like to complete this meme on their own at their leisure. Hopefully it will kick a few dollers in the inspirationpants!

Here's the How-To and Rules, as outlined at TLC:

What is a Color Race?
This one is pretty much a straight-ahead art meme . . . except instead of drawings or sketches, we're using dolls!

Each palette is posted in each of the eight squares of the template.

Rules for the Color Race:
1) YOU MUST USE EACH COLOR IN THE PALETTE ON YOUR DOLL. How much or how little of each color you use is up to you - as long as each color is clearly visible. You may use additional colors, as long as the four assigned colors remain prominent. OR you may choose to use only those four colors and keep your doll . . . tetrachromatic.

2) DO NOT USE THE SAME BASE TWICE! That includes different poses from the same base set. Why? For the challenge, and also to make things feel more meme-y and less pageant-y.

3) You do not have to stay true to your character's typical color palette. If your character has blue skin and always wears a grey t-shirt, you can bend the rules and make their skin orange and their t-shirt pink if it fits with the palette. Try looking at your character in a new light!

If you get stuck with a certain color combination, try linking it with moods or places. What kind of setting does each palette suggest? What do you feel when you look at that combination of colours? Try to hunt down a base that is suitable to the setting and mood you want to convey and you may find the doll starting to fall into place.

How-To
Step 1: Choose a character. It can be a pre-existing character from a book, movie, TV series, play, etc., it can be your muse, it can be an OC of yours, it can even be YOU. Just make sure it's a character you're going to want to work with for awhile (you'll be dolling them eight different ways!).

Step 2: Start making your dolls! Don't forget to read all the rules and parameters carefully!
