10 Lords A-Leaping by PoppedArtDolls 10 Lords A-Leaping by PoppedArtDolls
Made for [link] 's 12 Days of Christmas holiday gift-a-thon. I had already started a much larger and more elaborate doll, but then I realized I needed to make TEN of them, and I only had a day left. After the hyperventilation subsided, this is what I did.

10 lords: 5 fictional characters, 2 writers, 3 historical figures. Feel free to guess who these guys are. If anyone gets all ten, I will make them a custom doll. I can make this promise without any hesitation, because there's no way in Hades anyone is going to guess all 10. Some are super easy, but there's a few that are super obscure. Also: my dolling skills aren't THAT great - I didn't really do justice in bringing out the characteristics and subtle qualities of my lords. Did I mention that I was in a rush?

Note: some lords don't look leapy due to their long robes. Rest assured, they are airborne.

Hee, don't know how I missed this one! It's so fun and cute, and a nice twist on the theme.

Alas, everyone's already guessed all the Lords I know, and I didn't know many except the obvious (Vader, Voldemort, and Time). I'm embarrassed to admit I missed Farquaad; I love that movie!

Thanks! I honestly don't expect people to get the rest. Way. Too. Obscure. (To be honest, I just Googled a bunch of lords and picked a couple that are but tiny footnotes in Canadian history . . . although they do have high schools named after them).

Well, I know I've got at least three right, so here goes nothing:

Byron, Vader, some guy in a neat coat, Ten, Nelson--no wait maybe the other one with the wig is Nelson--at least one Nelson?, Farquaad, Lord Fantastic Moustache, Elrond, and Voldemort, whose highly sinister Cossack dance is, I think, my favorite leap of the bunch. And they're all lovely leaps :D

Hi Penty! Nice to hear from you! Thanks for commenting!

I didn't think anyone was going to get Byron . . . mostly because he's always portrayed in portrait (I really had to guess at what he was wearing from the waist down. I was going to draw in that scarfy thing that's seen on his head sometimes, but I got lazy). Good eye!

The guy in a neat coat is the other writer.

I was going to do Nelson, but ended up not doing Nelson. To be honest, though, there are a lot of lords from this era who, with the red coats and the wigs and the idealized portraiture, look pretty much the same.

Right on Farquaad! He was my favourite one to jam onto that tiny sprite . . . .

Lord Fantastic Moustache does indeed have a fantastic moustache. He's kind of the poster boy for fantastic moustaches.

Correct on Elrond and Voldemort (why oh why isn't there a .gif out there of Voldemort doing a highly sinister Cossack dance? WHY?!). So that's 6/10! Honestly, I don't know if anyone else will top that.

Oh, and while you're here, please permit me to coughcoughcoughcoughcoughcough[link] coughcoughcoughcoughcoughcoughcoughcoughbecauseI'mevillikethat. :D

Something about the jacket+Romantically tousled hair combo tipped me off on Byron, I think--that, or I can't think of any other writers who are also lords.

OH EXCEPT Tennyson, is Coat Guy Tennyson before he got all balding and scraggly?

Hmmm...the first person who comes to mind when I think aristocracy and fantastic moustaches is Kaiser Wilhelm, but I am pretty sure that isn't him. (I'm hoping someone else gets this one, because as soon as I know his name I'm going to go google his moustache.)

I don't think the internet is ready for Voldemort's highly sinister Cossack dance IN MOTION. Or at least I don't think I am.

And...ahahahahem. I realize with horror that I posted my first Ukraine WIP in 2009, which is just about enough to shame me into action--as soon as I'm on an OS that plays nice with my tablet drivers. Sometime before the heat death of the universe!

Heh . . . 10 pixels of hair looks romantically tousled? I love you for saying that. :D But yes, Byron was the first "Lord _____" who popped into my mind when I thought of the idea.

Young Tennyson = 7/10. :w00t:

Moustachioed Lord is not Kaiser Wilhelm. Your country needs you to figure this out.

I think the APH collab has gone well past horror and is now passing into some sort of slackery legend. I'm determined to see it finished, though. I'm a sucker for hopeless causes!

P.S. - "Before the heat death of the universe" has been officially added to my personal lexicon. I expect to use it on a daily basis. :D

Could've sworn I responded to this earlier, stymied by Moustachioed Lord--but no matter, I'm still stymied by Mustachioed Lord. My country must be so disappointed :(

Today I opened up Ukraine! And messed with the dithering on her coat! There's hope for me yet.

"Before the heat death of the universe" is one of my favorite phrases, probably because it's the most reasonable estimate of how soon I can expect to finish anything :P

Well, I'd hate to vex you even further, so: [link] (It's okay - it's not your country anyway!) :D

Huzzah to opening up the file! You are now one step ahead of me and my Cameroon doll, which I am fully aware I'm being a colossal hypocrite about. (I will finish him. I WILL.)

I'm still looking for the Latin equivalent of "It will be done . . . . eventually" because if I ever design a family crest, THAT will be the motto. :D

I may be a bonehead, but I recognize only three of these. Never liked history, if honestly... Voldemort, Darth Vaider, Tenth Doctor. No more. *shrugs*.
